Enel building 86.2-MW solar project in Colombia

Enel Green Power is building an 86.2-MW solar project in Colombia.

The El Paso solar project, in the northern region of Colombia, represents an investment of $70 million for Enel Green Power Colombia and is slated to enter service during the second half of 2018. It is projected to generate approximately 176 GWh annually.

The Enel SpA subsidiary said in a May 24 news release El Paso is the largest facility of its kind under construction in Colombia.

Enel said it is the first private investor in Colombia's energy sector. Its generation subsidiary, Emgesa S.A. E.S.P., has a combined installed capacity of over 3,500 MW, equivalent to a market share of 21% from thermal and hydro sources.
