Harmonized consumer price inflation in Germany accelerated to 2.4% year over year in October from 2.2% in September, confirming the Federal Statistical Office's provisional estimates.
On a monthly basis, harmonized inflation reached 0.1% in October.
In nonharmonized terms, German consumer prices rose by 2.5% annually in October, compared with a 2.3% rise in September. Consumer prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages rose 1.9%, transport prices were up 5.0% and package holiday prices rose 7.1% on an annual basis in October.
The alcoholic beverages and tobacco segment saw prices increase 3.2% from a year ago, while household energy prices were up 6% year on year in October.
On a monthly basis, nonharmonized inflation rose 0.2% in October.
