Coronado Global to resume ops at Curragh coal mine

Coronado Global Resources Inc. said Jan. 16 that return-to-work safety sessions are taking place with all workers on-site before unaffected areas of the Curragh coal mine complex in Queensland, Australia, gradually resume operations beginning Jan. 17 at the earliest.

Operations at the mine were suspended following the accidental death of a mining services contractor employee at the site earlier in January during a tire-change activity in the main workshop.

The Queensland Mines Inspectorate directed the company to suspend all tire and wheel rim fitting activities until the inspectorate determines that they can be safely resumed.
