Japanese industrial production up 2% in August

Japan's seasonally adjusted industrial production index rose 2.0% to 103.5 month over month in August, following a 0.8% dip in July, revised data from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry showed Oct. 16.

On a year-over-year basis, the original index grew 5.3% to 97.4 in August.

Inventories and inventory ratio dropped 0.6% and 4.1%, respectively, month over month, while shipments were up 1.8%.

The operating ratio edged up 3.3% to 103.4 from the previous month, after seasonal adjustment.
