Tishman Speyer, Common Living unveil urban family-focused residential brand

Property developer Tishman Speyer and co-living facility operator Common Living Inc. launched a family housing concept that will offer features including custom-designed shared spaces with family programming and events and on-demand childcare.

Dubbed Kin, the residential brand aims to cater to the needs of families living in and near cities, according to a release.

The multifamily buildings created and managed by Kin will be backed by technology and will also offer daycare drop-off, stroller parking and personalized in-unit cleaning, among other facilities.

The companies will launch Kin in Long Island City, N.Y., in May, and will expand across the country in the coming years.

Britt Zaffir, who spearheaded the development of Kin at Common Living, will be the brand's general manager. Jeff Mandel, senior managing director of U.S. acquisitions at Tishman, led the initiative within the company and will sit on Kin's advisory board.
