Microsoft, Oracle strike cloud alliance

Microsoft Corp. and Oracle Corp. are collaborating on an initiative to interconnect both of their respective cloud platforms.

Under the new cloud interoperability partnership, customers can migrate and run enterprise workloads across Microsoft Azure and Oracle Cloud.

The initiative allows enterprises to more easily connect Azure services, such as analytics and AI, to Oracle Cloud services, like autonomous database, Microsoft said.

"With this partnership, our joint customers can migrate their entire set of existing applications to the cloud without having to re-architect anything, preserving the large investments they have already made," Don Johnson, executive vice president of Oracle cloud infrastructure, said in a June 5 news release.
