Target, Shipt to expand same-day delivery service to Louisiana

Target Corp. and online marketplace Shipt Inc. jointly announced Feb. 27 that they will expand their same-day delivery service to Louisiana, starting March 13.

The same-day delivery platform will deliver products from Target stores to almost 800,000 households in Baton Rouge, Lafayette, New Orleans and Shreveport. Customers who sign up for membership before March 13 will pay a discounted annual membership fee of $49, which is regularly $99.

The release added that Shipt intends to hire more than 1,600 workers in Louisiana.

Target bought Shipt in December 2017 and the two companies announced in January that they will first offer their same-day delivery service in Alabama and Florida. They have expanded the service to other states since the first launch of the service.
