Starzen fiscal Q3 profit climbs 40.3% YOY

Starzen Co. Ltd. said its normalized net income for the fiscal third quarter ended Dec. 31, 2014, came to ¥149.84 per share, a gain of 39.9% from ¥107.09 per share in the year-earlier period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was ¥1.20 billion, a gain of 40.3% from ¥855.9 million in the prior-year period.

The normalized profit margin increased to 1.6% from 1.2% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue increased 10.1% on an annual basis to ¥77.40 billion from ¥70.32 billion, and total operating expenses rose 9.5% from the prior-year period to ¥75.75 billion from ¥69.19 billion.

Reported net income rose from the prior-year period to ¥1.31 billion, or ¥163.34 per share, from ¥487.0 million, or ¥60.93 per share.

As of Feb. 13, US$1 was equivalent to ¥118.68.
