AB InBev to move part of Hoegaarden production to Vietnam

Anheuser-Busch Inbev SA/NV is transferring part of its Hoegaarden beer production to Vietnam from its plant in Hoegaarden, Belgium, Belgian newspaper De Tijd reported May 18, citing AB InBev spokesman Laure Stuyck, and AB InBev Southeast Asia Commercial Manager Craig MacLean's statement to news agency Belga.

It is not yet known how much Hoegaarden will soon be produced in the Southeast Asian country, according to the report.

The plant in Belgium reportedly produces 1.3 million hectoliters of beer every year, of which 200,000 hectoliters have already been moved to China.

The brewing company began production in China in June 2017, which resulted in less work at the Hoegaarden plant, the newspaper said. Work at the Belgian plant reportedly will be cut to five days a week from seven days starting this June.

The Hoegaarden beer brand is also being manufactured in Russian breweries, the report added.

AB InBev did not immediately respond to a request for comment from S&P Global Market Intelligence.
