Exxon Mobil, Total among bidders to explore for oil, gas off Greece

Exxon Mobil Corp., Total Energy Services Inc. and Repsol SA are among bidders for oil and gas exploration in the maritime areas of Greece's South-West Crete, West Crete and Ionian blocks.

Greece's oil and gas resources management company, Hellenic Hydrocarbon Resources Management, said in a March 5 release that Total, Exxon Mobil and Hellenic Petroleum jointly bid to explore the South-West Crete and West Crete blocks, with Total and Exxon Mobil each having 40% stake. Repsol and Hellenic Petroleum also jointly bid for exploration on the Ionian block.

Hellenic Hydrocarbon Resources Management is evaluating the submitted bids, with approvals to come from the Ministry of Environment and Energy.
