Iridium's new global broadband service takes off

Iridium Communications Inc. launched its global broadband service Iridium Certus.

Iridium Certus, activated from the company's $3 billion Iridium NEXT satellite replacement program, will offer mobile internet and voice access, according to a Jan. 16 news release.

The service enables mobile office functionality for deployed teams and two-way remote communication for assets, autonomous vehicles, trains, aircraft and ships at sea.
