Slovak regulator approves merger of Prima banka and Sberbank Slovensko

The Slovak central bank approved the upcoming merger of Sberbank Slovensko a.s. and Prima banka Slovensko a.s.

The merger, which was also recently approved by the shareholders of the two lenders, will become effective Aug. 1, with Prima banka becoming the legal successor of Sberbank Slovensko.

Prima banka's owner, Penta Investments, agreed to acquire Sberbank Slovensko from PAO Sberbank of Russia subsidiary Sberbank Europe AG at the end of 2015, and the transaction was completed in July 2016.
