Eurozone retail sales remained unchanged in May versus April on a seasonally adjusted basis after decreasing by 0.1% the previous month, Eurostat said.
Food, drinks and tobacco sales rose by 1.1% and sales of non-food products were down 1.0%. Automotive fuels sales remained unchanged from the previous month.
On a year-over-year basis, the calendar-adjusted retail sales index increased by 1.4% in May after rising by 1.6% in April. Eurostat said the year-over-year increase in volume of retail trade was due to higher sales of food, drinks and tobacco and non-food products sales.
