Multiplan expands Curitiba, Brazil, mall for $250M Brazilian reais

Real estate investor Multiplan Empreendimentos Imobiliários SA will expand its ParkShoppingBarigüi mall in Curitiba, Brazil for the third time, adding approximately 15,000 square meters of gross leasable area to the property for about 250 million Brazilian reais.

It will add a new floor with 75 stores, two VIP movie theaters, an amenity-rich medical center, new restaurants, a mixed-use convention center and 800 new parking spaces.

Construction is expected to begin February 2020 and end in May 2021.

In October 2019, 99.2% of the 52,327-square-meter leasable area of the mall was occupied.

As of Dec. 6, US$1 was equivalent to 4.18 Brazilian reais.
