Toshiba revamps management structure

Nobuaki Kurumatani will become CEO and president of Japan-based Toshiba Corp. as part of a management restructuring aimed at ensuring speedy decision-making.

Kurumatani will drop his position as chairman to focus more on business execution. Satoshi Tsunakawa, current president and COO, will take over as chairman.

The new management structure will take effect from April 1.

In addition, the company will introduce a corporate officer system that will provide key personnel who will lead the development of the group. Toshiba named Noriaki Hashimoto, Hitoshi Otsuka, Hiroshi Yamamoto, Shun Egusa and Ayumi Wada as corporate officers.

The company will also add three executive officers as of April, namely Hiroyuki Sato, Masaharu Kamo and Hideaki Ishii.
