Report: WPX Energy exploring $2.5B bid for Felix Energy assets

WPX Energy Inc. is in talks with Denver-based Felix Energy LLC to acquire the latter's oil and gas exploration assets for about $2.5 billion, Bloomberg News reported, citing people familiar with the matter.

A deal could be announced later this month, though a decision has not been finalized and negotiations could still break down, the sources said.

Felix Energy's pipeline assets will be excluded from any potential transaction as they are being sold separately, according to the report.
