Prolexus fiscal Q1 profit climbs 47.0% YOY

Prolexus Bhd. said its normalized net income for the fiscal first quarter ended Oct. 31 was 3 Malaysian sen per share, a gain of 38.0% from 2 sen per share in the year-earlier period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was 3.7 million ringgits, a gain of 47.0% from 2.5 million ringgits in the prior-year period.

The normalized profit margin climbed to 4.7% from 3.8% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue climbed 19.7% on an annual basis to 79.7 million ringgits from 66.6 million ringgits, and total operating expenses rose 18.2% year over year to 72.5 million ringgits from 61.3 million ringgits.

Reported net income increased 39.2% from the prior-year period to 5.4 million ringgits, or 5 sen per share, from 3.9 million ringgits, or 4 sen per share.

As of Dec. 10, US$1 was equivalent to 3.48 ringgits.
