RHB Islamic Bank ends bancatakaful arrangement with Syarikat Takaful Malaysia

RHB Bank Bhd. said its unit RHB Islamic Bank Bhd. decided to discontinue its bancatakaful agreement with Syarikat Takaful Malaysia Keluarga Bhd., effective July 31.

The unit expects to complete the process of securing a new long-term takaful partner before July 31, according to a Jan. 15 stock exchange filing.

RHB Islamic Bank and Syarikat Takaful Malaysia had signed an exclusive 10-year bancatakaful agreement in August 2015.

The discontinuance of the bancatakaful agreement will not have a material effect on the consolidated earnings per share, net assets per share and gearing of RHB Bank for the 2020 full year, the lender said.

As of Jan. 15, US$1 was equivalent to 4.07 Malaysian ringgit.
