Hyundai Department Store profit misses consensus by 36.3% in Q3

Hyundai Department Store Co. Ltd. said its third-quarter normalized net income came to 1,685.23 South Korean won per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of 2,644.95 won per share.

EPS rose 29.4% year over year from 1,302.33 won.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was 38.41 billion won, an increase of 28.0% from 30.01 billion won in the prior-year period.

The normalized profit margin climbed to 9.7% from 8.5% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue rose 12.1% on an annual basis to 397.59 billion won from 354.70 billion won, and total operating expenses came to 327.59 billion won, compared with 324.79 billion won in the prior-year period.

Reported net income declined year over year to 41.46 billion won, or 1,819.31 won per share, from 43.04 billion won, or 1,868.00 won per share.

As of Nov. 16, US$1 was equivalent to 1,172.80 South Korean won.
