Pure Gold Mining Inc. officially kicked off the construction phase of the Madsen Red Lake mine, part of its Madsen gold property in Ontario, with the award of key contracts for the development.
The Toronto- and London-listed explorer said Sept. 9 that it tapped JDS Energy & Mining, together with Hatch Ltd. and Knight Piesold Ltd., for the surface engineering and procurement contract. Further, the underground mine design engineering contract was awarded to Dumas Mine Contracting Ltd.
Detailed design work on surface infrastructure, as well as underground electrical distribution, mine ventilation, mine service design and stope optimization is underway, as well as equipment sourcing and the procurement of long lead time items.
The company is targeting initial gold production in late 2020.
In August, Pure Gold approved the Madsen Red Lake construction and secured US$90 million in funding to develop an underground mine at the site.
