Carson Cumberbatch fiscal Q4 profit falls YOY

Carson Cumberbatch PLC said its normalized net income for the fiscal fourth quarter ended March 31 amounted to 4.01 Sri Lankan rupees per share, a decline of 28.7% from 5.62 rupees per share in the prior-year period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was 786.8 million rupees, a decrease of 28.7% from 1.10 billion rupees in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue rose 10.9% on an annual basis to 24.07 billion rupees from 21.70 billion rupees, and total operating expenses rose 27.0% from the prior-year period to 20.57 billion rupees from 16.19 billion rupees.

Reported net income decreased 79.6% on an annual basis to 597.2 million rupees, or 3.04 rupees per share, from 2.93 billion rupees, or 14.91 rupees per share.

For the year, the company's normalized net income totaled 12.60 rupees per share, an increase from 3.79 rupees per share in the prior year.

Normalized net income was 2.48 billion rupees, a gain from 743.4 million rupees in the prior year.

Full-year total revenue grew 16.2% on an annual basis to 89.01 billion rupees from 76.62 billion rupees, and total operating expenses increased 18.4% on an annual basis to 75.48 billion rupees from 63.74 billion rupees.

The company said reported net income decreased 18.8% on an annual basis to 3.09 billion rupees, or 15.71 rupees per share, in the full year, from 3.80 billion rupees, or 19.35 rupees per share.

As of July 22, US$1 was equivalent to 133.81 Sri Lankan rupees.
