Asia Pacific Telecom Q1 loss widens YOY

Asia Pacific Telecom Co.Ltd. said its normalized net income for the first quarter came to a loss of 12 Taiwan cents per share, compared with a loss of 6 cents per share in the year-earlier period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was a loss of NT$497.2 million, compared with a loss of NT$241.4 million in the year-earlier period.

The normalized profit margin fell to negative 14.8% from negative 6.4% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue fell 11.3% year over year to NT$3.35 billion from NT$3.78 billion, and total operating expenses climbed 20.2% on an annual basis to NT$5.05 billion from NT$4.20 billion.

Reported net income came to a loss of NT$859.6 million, or a loss of 20 cents per share, compared to a loss of NT$310.9 million, or a loss of 8 cents per share, in the year-earlier period.
