FTC warns Netflix users about email phishing scam

The U.S. Federal Trade Commission issued a warning about an email phishing scam aimed at Netflix Inc. subscribers.

In a Dec. 26 official post, the agency cited a screenshot of a phishing email requesting updated payment information from Netflix customers. The email claims that a user's account is on hold because Netflix is "having some trouble with your current billing information" and invites the user to click on a link to update the payment method.

The FTC highlighted steps that users could take to avoid sharing confidential information in such phishing emails and also encouraged users to report such incidents.
