United Communications Partners swings to profit in Q1

United Communications Partners Inc. said its first-quarter normalized net income came to $83,630, compared with a loss of $114,880 in the year-earlier period.

Normalized net income excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis.

The normalized profit margin increased to 0.6% from negative 1.2% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue increased 34.2% year over year to $13.0 million from $9.7 million, and total operating expenses climbed 29.9% on an annual basis to $12.9 million from $9.9 million.

Reported net income came to $80,000, or 0 cents per share, compared to a loss of $185,000, or a loss of 0 cents per share, in the year-earlier period.
