IT issue leaves NatWest customers unable to make PPI claims

Customers of Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC unit National Westminster Bank PLC aired frustrations online after failing to lodge claims on missold payment protection insurance ahead of the Aug. 29 deadline for making complaints, City A.M. reported.

Several customers took to Twitter to complain about the issue, saying they were unable to access the bank's website and its PPI call line system, the newspaper added.

In response, NatWest said it was "aware of an issue with the PPI form due to a number of customers trying to access the page," while a source from the bank told City A.M. that cookies on some customers' browsers were preventing them from accessing it.

A spokesperson for NatWest said the bank was aware of the issues with its homepage and that it was trying to fix the problem.
