Otkritie gets controlling stake in Russian customs payment system operator

Otkritie Financial Corp. Bank increased its stake in Russia-based OOO Promfinance to 100%, in turn taking indirect control of customs payment system operator Tamozhennaya Karta.

Prior to the transaction, Otkritie held a 19.9% stake in Promfinance, which in turn owns 67.81% of Tamozhennaya Karta. The deal was carried out based on "market conditions" and was approved by the Russian Federal Antimonopoly Service, the lender said May 14 without disclosing financial details.

Tamozhennaya Karta runs a system that allows companies to make quick customs payments to Russia's Federal Customs Service, with Otkritie serving as a settlement center for the company since March 2017. Other shareholders of Tamozhennaya Karta include the Deposit Insurance Agency, which owns a 28.93% stake in the operator, and the National Association of Customs Representatives, with a 3.21% stake.
