Norfolk Southern to move headquarters to Atlanta

Rail transportation company Norfolk Southern Corp. will move its headquarters to Atlanta, from Norfolk, Va.

Norfolk Southern said it is in advanced talks to buy a site in Midtown Atlanta from Cousins Properties Inc., which will manage the development of the new headquarters. The companies will announce the details of their partnership in the first quarter of 2019.

Cousins Properties was reported in November to have reportedly plans for a 1.4 million-square-foot development in Technology Square in Midtown Atlanta, with Norfolk Southern said to be the planned anchor tenant. The process of relocation will span several years as Norfolk Southern's new headquarters is built.
