General Dynamics fiscal Q3 profit climbs YOY

General Dynamics Corp. said its normalized net income for the fiscal third quarter ended Oct. 4 was $1.97 per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of $2.13 per share.

EPS climbed 8.7% year over year from $1.81.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was $633.1 million, an increase from $611.9 million in the third quarter ended Sept. 28, 2014.

The normalized profit margin climbed to 7.9% from 7.9% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue grew on an annual basis to $7.99 billion from $7.75 billion, and total operating expenses rose on an annual basis to $6.96 billion from $6.75 billion.

Reported net income increased 5.9% year over year to $734.0 million, or $2.28 per share, from $693.3 million, or $2.05 per share.
