Magellan Midstream begins open season for Texas refined-products pipe expansion

Magellan Midstream Partners LP launched an open season to gauge customer interest in a proposed expansion of the western leg of its refined-products pipeline system in Texas.

The expansion would boost Magellan's transportation capacity for gasoline, diesel and other refined petroleum products from refineries in the Gulf Coast to demand centers in Abilene, Midland/Odessa and El Paso in Texas, as well as options to access markets in New Mexico and Arizona. Shippers could also flow products into international markets in Mexico through other pipeline connections owned by Magellan Midstream and third parties, according to a March 9 news release.

If Magellan Midstream receives enough shipper support during the open season, the expanded capacity would begin operations by mid-2020.

The deadline for submission of binding commitments is 5 p.m. CT on May 9. Prospective customers may contact Tony Wysocki at 918-574-7174 or tony.wysocki@magellanlp.com.
