U.S. car maker General Motors Co. said March 19 that it appointed John Roth as president and managing director of GM Africa and Middle East operations, effective June 1, to replace Mario Spangenberg, who is retiring on July 1.
Roth, the current vice president of GM Canada marketing, sales and service, will be based in Dubai and will be responsible for the Chevrolet, Cadillac, GMC and ACDelco business in the region. Roth will replace Mario Spangenberg, who has elected to retire July 1.
Roth will report to Alan Batey, GM executive vice president, GM North America president and the head of GM Africa and Middle East operations and Global Chevrolet.
GM also said that Scott Bell, the current director of sales operations for Chevrolet in the U.S., was appointed to Roth's current role with GM Canada. He will report to Steve Carlisle, the president and managing director of GM Canada.
