CIT to join S&P MidCap 400, Tanger to join S&P SmallCap 600

S&P Dow Jones Indices is adding CIT Group Inc. to the S&P MidCap 400 and retail real estate investment trust Tanger Factory Outlet Centers Inc. to the S&P SmallCap 600, effective prior to the open of trading on Jan. 27.

Tanger will be deleted from the S&P MidCap 400 and McDermott International Inc. will be deleted from the S&P SmallCap 600. Oilfield services provider McDermott filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection Jan. 21.

CIT will be added to the S&P MidCap 400 GICS Regional Banks Sub-Industry index, while Tanger will be added to the S&P SmallCap 600 GICS Retail REITs Sub-Industry index.
