Old Republic International Corp. announced a number of senior management appointments.

Craig Smiddy, currently president and COO of Old Republic General Insurance Group Inc., was named president and COO of Old Republic International. Smiddy succeeds R. Scott Rager, who was promoted to executive vice chairman of Old Republic International.

Phillip Schutt was elevated to senior vice president and deputy chief investment officer for the management of Old Republic International's $13 billion portfolio of bonds and stocks.

Cheryl Jones was given the added role of senior vice president and national benefits director of Old Republic International and all of its subsidiaries. She serves as executive vice president and chief human resources and communications officer of Old Republic Title Insurance Group Inc.

W. Todd Gray is assuming the additional roles of senior vice president and treasurer of Old Republic International. He retains his position as senior vice president of operations and finance at Old Republic General Insurance Group.

Old Republic International's board approved the appointments, which will all take effect June 1.
