TopBuild profit beats consensus by 28.8% in Q4

TopBuild Corp. said its fourth-quarter normalized net income amounted to 68 cents per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of 53 cents per share.

EPS climbed 91.7% year over year from 36 cents.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was $25.9 million, a gain of 92.9% from $13.4 million in the prior-year period.

The normalized profit margin rose to 6.1% from 3.4% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue rose 7.1% year over year to $426.5 million from $398.1 million, and total operating expenses rose from the prior-year period to $383.5 million from $373.5 million.

Reported net income increased from the prior-year period to $59.3 million, or $1.57 per share, from $6.0 million, or 16 cents per share.

For the year, the company's normalized net income totaled $1.23 per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus normalized EPS estimate of $1.38.

EPS rose from 47 cents in the prior year.

Normalized net income was $46.3 million, a gain from $17.7 million in the prior year.

Full-year total revenue increased 6.9% from the prior-year period to $1.62 billion from $1.51 billion, and total operating expenses rose year over year to $1.53 billion from $1.47 billion.

The company said reported net income grew year over year to $79.0 million, or $2.09 per share, in the full year, from $10.5 million, or 28 cents per share.
