Orchids Paper Products Co. said its normalized net income for the fourth quarter was 32 cents per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of 42 cents per share.
EPS rose 30.7% year over year from 25 cents.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was $3.3 million, an increase of 53.3% from $2.2 million in the year-earlier period.
The normalized profit margin increased to 8.0% from 5.3% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue rose year over year to $41.9 million from $41.3 million, and total operating expenses decreased from the prior-year period to $36.5 million from $37.8 million.
Reported net income grew 50.5% from the prior-year period to $3.7 million, or 36 cents per share, from $2.5 million, or 28 cents per share.
For the year, the company's normalized net income totaled $1.25 per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus normalized EPS estimate of $1.43.
EPS rose 10.0% from $1.13 in the prior year.
Normalized net income was $12.3 million, a rise of 26.9% from $9.7 million in the prior year.
Full-year total revenue increased 18.0% year over year to $168.4 million from $142.7 million, and total operating expenses increased 17.5% on an annual basis to $149.0 million from $126.8 million.
The company said reported net income rose 43.3% on an annual basis to $13.6 million, or $1.38 per share, in the full year, from $9.5 million, or $1.11 per share.
