Report: Petrobras mulls creating subsidiaries to divest power plants, pipelines

Brazil's state-owned oil company Petróleo Brasileiro SA - Petrobras is studying the establishment of a subsidiary composed of 15 power plants, which could be divested via an initial public offering, Reuters reported Aug. 6, citing a report from XP Investimentos.

The XP Investimentos analysts reportedly said Petrobras is also contemplating a partnership with oil firms in Brazil's pre-salt region to establish a company comprising gas pipelines coming from offshore exploration areas. The report said Petrobras could then leave the venture through a share offering.

According to Reuters, Petrobras operates 20 power plants with a total capacity of 6,000 MW.
