TIAA's asset management unit is now called Nuveen, the brand of the company TIAA acquired in 2014, The Wall Street Journal reported.

The unit's name change is related to TIAA's plans to diversify its holdings and sell to different markets, according to the report. Vijay Advani is president and operating chief of the unit, while Jose Minaya serves as president of global investments.
