The British government plans to create laws tackling internet misuse, such as cyberbullying and child sexual exploitation, the U.K.'s Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport said May 20.
The U.K. government will collaborate with technology companies and other stakeholders such as regulators and advertising companies in developing the legislation.
The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, the Home Office and other government departments will produce a white paper to aid in the creation of laws. It is anticipated to be published later in 2018.
The move follows a government consultation which revealed that internet users feel tech companies have been operating without adequate oversight and transparency.
