Huawei signs deal with Dutch mapping company TomTom

Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. and Dutch navigation and digital mapping company TomTom NV signed a deal allowing the Chinese tech company to use the latter's maps, traffic information and navigation software in developing its smartphone apps, Reuters reports.

Huawei was prohibited from using Google's Android operating system and its Google Maps app in new smartphones after U.S. President Donald Trump effectively banned it over national security concerns. Huawei developed its own operating system.

The agreement was made some time ago, according to the report, citing TomTom spokesperson Remco Meerstra.
