IMAX, Xperi unit develop home entertainment program

IMAX Corp. has teamed up with Xperi Corp. unit DTS Corp. to launch the IMAX Enhanced program for home entertainment.

The new certification and licensing program combines the highest-end consumer electronics products with IMAX digitally re-mastered 4K HDR content and DTS audio technologies to offer consumers a new level of quality in immersive sight and sound experiences for the home, according to a Sept. 4 news release.

To join the program, consumer electronics manufacturers will design 4K HDR televisions, A/V receivers, sound systems and other home theater equipment to meet the required audio and video performance standards.

Xperi's services are licensed by global partners and have shipped in billions of products in areas, including premium audio, automotive, broadcast, computational imaging, computer vision, mobile computing and communications, memory, data storage, and 3D semiconductor interconnect and packaging.
