Lendlease Energy, SMUD sign power contract for 160-MW solar facility

Lendlease Energy Development LLC and Sacramento Municipal Utility District signed a 30-year power purchase agreement for the 160-MW Rancho Seco Solar II facility in Sacramento County, Calif.

The facility will be built on the premises of the decommissioned Rancho Seco nuclear power station. The project is scheduled to begin construction later in 2019 and enter operations by the end of 2020.

Rancho Seco Solar II will support the strategic direction of the SMUD board and California's renewable energy and greenhouse gas emissions goals.

Sydney-headquartered Lendlease is an international property and infrastructure group with operations in Australia, Asia, Europe and the Americas. The Rancho Seco Solar II marks the company's first energy development in California.
