PayPal expects gains from strategic investments for Q4'19, FY'19

PayPal Holdings Inc. expects to report a pretax gain of $38 million, or $29 million on an after-tax basis, on its strategic investments in the quarter ended Dec. 31, 2019.

The associated impact on EPS for the quarter is anticipated to be 2 cents per share.

As previously disclosed, the company's full-year and fourth-quarter 2019 non-GAAP EPS guidance did not include any expectation of unrealized gains or losses from PayPal's strategic investments portfolio in the fourth quarter of 2019.

The company also expects to report a pretax gain of $208 million, or $164 million on an after-tax basis, on its strategic investments for the year ended Dec. 31, 2019.

The company reported a pretax gain of $87 million, or $67 million on an after-tax basis, on the company's strategic investments for the year ended Dec. 31, 2018.
