South Korean conglomerate LG Corp. on Jan. 8 said it will team up with Microsoft Corp. to strengthen its autonomous and connected vehicle business.
Microsoft's Azure cloud and artificial intelligence technologies will be applied to LG's Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, or ADAS, to accelerate its ability to learn road and traffic patterns. The self-driving program will also be able to learn its driver's patterns and recognize and distinguish pedestrians and other objects.
LG will also equip its voice-enabled virtual assistant with Microsoft's AI services that will let drivers look for traffic conditions and restaurants, play music and call contacts.
Microsoft recently teamed up with grocery operator Kroger to pilot connected stores with Azure.
