Kajima fiscal Q1 profit climbs 62.2% YOY

Kajima Corp. said its normalized net income for the fiscal first quarter ended June 30 came to ¥5.02 per share, a gain of 62.3% from ¥3.09 per share in the year-earlier period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was ¥5.21 billion, a gain of 62.2% from ¥3.21 billion in the prior-year period.

The normalized profit margin climbed to 1.5% from 1.0% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue grew 8.4% on an annual basis to ¥347.82 billion from ¥320.81 billion, and total operating expenses rose 7.3% from the prior-year period to ¥341.21 billion from ¥318.08 billion.

Reported net income rose 19.6% from the prior-year period to ¥4.47 billion, or ¥4.30 per share, from ¥3.74 billion, or ¥3.60 per share.
