Citi appoints several execs for CEEMEA region

Citigroup Inc. named several executives for its central and eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa region, Thomson Reuters' IFR reported Nov. 20.

The company appointed Omar Iqtidar head of mergers and acquisitions for the region, replacing Cisco Abularach, who was appointed head of EMEA real estate and infrastructure for Citi's corporate and investment bank.

Miguel Azevedo was named head of investment banking for a new cluster across Middle East and Africa, excluding South Africa; Hamza Girach was named co-head of Middle East investment banking and will take sole responsibility from Iqtidar after a transition period; and Theo Giatrakos was named head of investment banking for Central and Southeast Europe, Reuters reported.

Azevedo was previously Citi's head of investment banking for Africa, excluding Egypt and South Africa; Girach was a member of the EMEA energy investment banking team; and Giatrakos is the current head of investment banking for Greece and Cyprus, the news outlet added.
