Board moves through Dec. 15

S&P Global Market Intelligence presents an overview of board changes at European financial institutions. The changes are listed by announcement date in reverse chronological order.

Dec. 15

* Achmea BV unit Achmea Bank NV named Huub Arendse chairman of its supervisory board, effective Jan. 1, 2018. Arendse, who joined the bank's board in August, will replace Petri Hofsté, who has been chairman since May 1, 2015.

* Frenkel Topping Group Plc said Jason Granite resigned as a director, with immediate effect to pursue other interests.

Dec. 14

* Michael Somers will resign as deputy chairman and independent nonexecutive director of the boards of AIB Group Plc and Allied Irish Banks Plc, effective Dec. 31. Senior independent nonexecutive director Catherine Woods will replace Somers as deputy chairman of both companies, effective Jan. 1, 2018.

* Robert Routs will step down as chairman of AEGON NV's board at the May 18, 2018, annual general meeting, having held the post since 2010. The board named William Connelly, who joined the supervisory board in May, to succeed Routs after the general meeting.

* Torben Andersen will be elected chairman of the supervisory board of Danish pension fund ATP Arbejdsmarkedets Tillaegspension during a Feb. 7, 2018, board meeting, replacing Jørgen Søndergaard, who will step down after 15 years in the role.

Dec. 13

* Jay Nichols will join Brit Ltd.'s reinsurance platforms, Sussex Capital and Brit Re, as a nonexecutive director. He most recently was Axis Capital's CEO for reinsurance.

* Bank RBK JSC appointed Dauren Orazaev a member of its board.

* PJSC VS Bank said the powers of supervisory board Chairman Arndt Röchling, Vice Chairman Igor Yushko and member Nataliya Avdeenko were terminated.

* Aldermore Group Plc appointed Pat Butler a nonexecutive director, effective Jan. 1, 2018, and chairman-designate. He will also join as a nonexecutive director and chairman-designate of Aldermore Bank Plc. Butler serves as an independent nonexecutive director of Bank of Ireland Group Plc and Bank of Ireland (UK) Plc, among other board roles. Danuta Gray will continue as interim chairman until Butler's appointment as chairman becomes effective, at which point she will resume her role as senior independent director of the board.

* Swedish private equity firm Ratos AB named Chairman Jonas Wiström CEO, effective Dec. 13, replacing Magnus Agervald. Per-Olof Söderberg will take over as the new chairman of the board, while Jan Söderberg will become deputy chairman.

Dec. 12

* Pascal Geissmann, previously private banker at Edmond de Rothschild (Suisse) SA, joined Banque Bonhôte & Cie SA as a member of the board of directors and senior client adviser, Finews noted.

* Aargauische Kantonalbank elected Andréa Belliger to its board, effective Dec. 7.

* Tom Considine and Pat Butler will retire from the board of Bank of Ireland Group Plc as nonexecutive directors, effective Dec. 31.

Dec. 11

* Bâloise Holding AG will propose German economics professor Hans-Jörg Schmidt-Trenz as a director to the board at the company's April, 27, 2018, annual general meeting. Werner Kummer will not stand for re-election at the meeting.

* Julius Bär Gruppe AG will propose to elect Richard Campbell-Breeden as a board member at the company's April 11, 2018, annual general meeting. He is also expected to join Bank Julius Baer & Co. Ltd.'s board of directors.

* Staffan Persson has decided not to stand for re-election as a board member at Cinnober Financial Technology at the company's 2018 annual general meeting. Persson joined the board in 2011.

* ASYL-INVEST JSC appointed SergeyGrishin a new member of its board of directors.
