Report: Malaysia central bank governor offers to step down

Bank Negara Malaysia Governor Muhammad Ibrahim offered to resign from his post, Bloomberg News reported June 5, citing people familiar with the matter.

Ibrahim was appointed governor of the country's central bank in April 2016 for a five-year period, effective May 1, 2016.

A central bank spokesperson and a finance ministry official declined to comment, while Ibrahim did not respond to Bloomberg's calls and text messages.
