Vedanta Resources suspends Konkola operations after worker dies in accident

Vedanta Resources PLC's Zambian unit said that work was halted at its Konkola copper-cobalt mine after a worker was killed in an accident at underground shaft four, Reuters reported Aug. 9.

An investigation into the incident will be conducted.

A fatality was reported from the same shaft in late July, which also resulted in work stoppage at the mine.

In June, Vedanta unveiled plans to double finished copper output at Konkola Copper Mines PLC to 200,000 tonnes this year.
