Report: Oversea-Chinese Banking mulls stake in virtual bank licence in Singapore

Oversea-Chinese Banking Corp. Ltd. is in preliminary discussion with Singtel and other companies for a minority stake in a virtual banking joint venture in Singapore, The Strait Times reported Aug. 21, citing sources with knowledge of the matter.

The Monetary Authority of Singapore is expected to issue the new license applications later in August, the sources told the publication, adding that the joint venture partners may change depending on licensing conditions.

OCBC is the only lender among the major Singaporean banks that does not have a digital-only bank.
