Alliant brings 662-MW Iowan natural gas-fired plant online

Alliant Energy Corp. began producing power at its 662-MW Marshalltown generating station in Marshall County, Iowa, The Associated Press reported.

The $700 million combined-cycle natural gas-fired power plant has two gas turbines and one steam turbine.

Alliant Vice President of Regulatory Affairs Joel Schmidt said the facility will help the state's air become cleaner and create jobs for Iowans.
