Integer Holdings Corp. acquired certain assets of US BioDesign Inc., a maker of biomedical textiles, for an up-front payment of $15 million.
Quakertown, Pa.-based US BioDesign engineers and manufactures biomedical textiles and components for medical devices.
US BioDesign's know-how in the area of complex braided and formed biomedical structures will help Integer develop life-saving medical devices, said Integer President and CEO Joe Dziedzic.
Plano, Texas-based Integer Holdings, which makes devices for cardiac, neuromodulation, vascular and advanced surgical markets, among others, plans to use the Quakertown site as a research and development hub.
Under the deal, US BioDesign will be eligible to receive additional milestone payments.
